The Protect Them Project is funded by the National Institutes of Health. Our objectives are to use and evaluate effective ways to inform parents and preteens about HPV vaccination.
Faculty from the Schools of Media and Journalism, Medicine, Nursing, and Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Department of Community and Family Medicine at Duke University are using text messages, print materials, online provider training, a video game for preteens, and web-based information to enhance communication about HPV vaccination through physicians' offices in North Carolina.
This study has been approved by the UNC Institutional Review Board, which reviews all studies to ensure appropriate and ethical guidelines are maintained (UNC Non-Biomedical IRB #14-1891).
